Another Temple Topics and another article to write. So much good news to share. Where do I begin?
Well I guess I’ll begin at the beginning, (logical explanation). As we ended our annual “Chanukah Toys for Tots” campaign we certainly made many youngsters happy this year. I must admit the contributions were less than previous years. The demand for toys even greater, because of severe economic situations in our area. The director of F.E.G.S. was so gracious and appreciative of our donation. She cried and I cried as she thanked us all and told me we never forget her clients at F.E.G.S. The local office located in Central Islip is a wonderful resource center for our community.
F.E.G.S. is a beneficiary of UJA Federation, NY/LI. Chai Club thanks all who supported this project. Once again we were invited back to Barnes & Noble, Bay Shore to wrap holiday gifts. This project gives us a great opportunity to net work into the community. As our members wrap gifts we also answer questions about our Temple and invite any and all to worship with us. There is a box for contributions. The service sponsored by Barnes & Noble is free, but contribution are accepted.
Thanks to this wonderful group of wrappers/volunteers: Pat Ellner, Dawn Hardy, Maria, Amanda & Jason Iaspara, Lynn & Melissa Dell”Amore, Marc Wolff, Linda Lieberman, Steve, Nancy & Julianna Orkin, Tricia Lindner, Harold Schechtel, Sunny Margolis, Deb & Alleyne Daniel. And yes, I wrapped too. “We didn’t make a lot of money, but we sure had fun.” We look forward to next year and hopefully additional dates and additional volunteers.
