While the High Holy Day season has come and gone, the need to say thank you has not. Organizing for the High Holy Days begins in June. Rabbi Losben-Ostrov and I started by looking at the High Holy Day machzor (prayer book) and assigning parts: who could read Hebrew, who needed only an English part, which students were reading torah, and the list is endless. In July, Cary Kirschbaum and the Religious Practice Committee diligently continued. Tickets and pledge cards were mailed. Memorial booklet letters were mailed. Assignment parts were mailed. The break fast was organized. The Torah mantles, crowns, yads, and breastplates were cleaned. Rabbi Losben-Ostrov worked with our guest High Holy Day cantor, ntor Carla Reynolds, and then she worked with our organist, Carol Whitener. As you can see, there was a lot going on prior to the start of the High Holy Days, Rosh Hashanah evening. I would like to thank everyone who helped make the High Holy Days run smoothly and spiritually. If I forget anyone, I humbly apologize. First, my thanks go to Cary Kirschbaum who agreed to undertake his responsibility in my absence. You are truly a mensch. Next, my thanks go to Steven Orkin who accepted the responsibility of organizing the Memorial Booklet. This was his first year doing it. It’s a major undertaking and his hard work paid off. Sharon Valles is also credited for her assistance to Steve. Marian Kent and Chai Club need to be thanked for providing us with the honey sticks. Marian, you are invaluable asset to our temple, and all the work you do is greatly appreciated. Thanks go to Heidi Leibowitz and Brad Tuller for being our shofar blowers. Heidi also made sure that we had beautiful flowers for the bimah. Then, thanks go to Sisterhood for providing us with challah and juice at the end of Yom Kippur. Linda Lieberman and her staff deserve kudos for organizing our break fast. Finally, thanks go to Rabbi Emily Losben-Ostrov, Cantor Carla Reynolds, uben Ostrov, and Carol Whitener for making our High Holy Days a spiritual experience. Eileen Goldberg First Vice President
